Tandoori Kitchen, the family-owned Indian and Nepalese restaurant at 199 W South Boulder Rd in Old Town Lafayette, started its ninth year on Thursday, October 1, with a party in its dining room. Guests filled the restaurant from the 6 PM cake cutting until close, and the team handed out about 65 anniversary tees to guests who shared a photo from the night.
Tandoori Kitchen opened in August 2018. In 2024 Yelp ranked it #41 on its Top 100 US Restaurants list, the highest-ranked restaurant in Colorado, and it holds a 4.6-star rating across more than 670 Google reviews.
When we opened in 2018, we hoped Lafayette would make a little room for us. Eight years later, people bring their kids, their parents and their coworkers. On Thursday it felt like the whole town came home for dinner. That is what we want every night to feel like: a second home.

The night brought out longtime regulars and a lot of first-time guests. A table of twelve booked ahead to celebrate together, families planned their evening around the cake, and the first anniversary tee went out at lunch, hours before the party started.

A kitchen built around the tandoor
The menu is cooked around a traditional clay tandoor: tikka kebobs, tandoori chicken wings and naan baked to order, alongside tikka masala, saag and Himalayan dishes from the family’s Nepalese roots, such as momos and thukpa.
Every day in Lafayette
Tandoori Kitchen serves a lunch buffet every weekday from 11 AM to 2:30 PM and dinner every night from 4:30 to 9:30 PM, with online ordering for pickup and delivery and catering for offices, parties and events. The anniversary party will be a yearly tradition each August. Read our story.
